About the Department

The precise knowledge and skill will help to attain professional and personal goals. The department of civil engineering was started in the year 2009. UG programme is designed for a broad spectrum of courses and for enriching students through a multidisciplinary approach for a well-rounded knowledge base and manageable skills. It imparts students with mastery in the field of civil engineering besides fluency in mathematics, physics, computers, management and economics - essential requirements for any successful civil engineer. Students gain practical experience from field visits to industries, dams and irrigation structures, construction sites, etc.

Well qualified and experienced faculty members form the department. They specialize in structural, geotechnical, environmental, etc and a few of them are pursuing Ph.D from various reputed universities in India . The faculty members contribute to academic development by presenting papers in international and national conferences. The labs are well equipped with state of the sophisticated equipment.

  • To produce graduates of quality with generalized knowledge in Civil Engineering.
  • To provide necessary resources to get quality placements and pursue higher studies.
  • To enhance and promote the Industry Institute Interaction
  • To promote research culture among the faculty and students
  • To establish a Centre of Excellence in the Department.

HOD  Message

The department of Civil engineering strives in imparting world class technical education, to young budding  engineers with creative and innovative approach to  Civil engineering systems in design and development.  We focus on to produce competent, versatile and  industry ready graduates imbibed with values and social concern.

The Department of Civil Engineering strives to graduate highly qualified engineers, maintain nationally recognized research and provide quality professional and community service to the society.

• To enhance quality of the program by creating an environment conducive for innovative teaching and learning.

• To generate research opportunities that creates synergy among faculty, students, and practicing professionals.

• To work in conjunction with other departments in the institution to provide multidisciplinary opportunities for both students and faculty.

• To contribute to improvement in the quality of life in society through innovation, sharing, and use of knowledge.

Program outcomes:

PO1: Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using the first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, society, and environmental considerations.

PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5: Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO7: Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in society and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

PO9: Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multi-disciplinary settings.

PO10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

PO11: Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multi-disciplinary environments.

PO12: Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
